Your GPA (especially weighted) and SAT are incredibly low for Cornell. Just work hard next semester to bump up your GPA, and retake the SAT, shooting for at least 2100.

Something to keep in mind is that extracurricular activities are very important and you seem to have those completely covered. It is IMPORTANT for you to know that Cornell only looks at the SAT on a 1600 basis, so your Reading and Math scores are what really matter (for Cornell specifically, do well on the writing for other schools!) If you really go to the #1 school in the state, hopefully the admissions office will see that and perhaps that will help you out on the GPA problem. From a pure numbers perspective, you’re going to need to do well on the SAT retake to balance out your GPA. Your ethnicity is definitely helpful. To address your original question… do you have a shot? If you bring up your 1600 score and write beautiful essays, you definitely have a chance, even if it’s a little slim. But it’s always good to reach, you never know if the admissions office is going to see something that seems commonplace to you but stands out to them :)

With your grades and SATs at a colllege where the average GPA and SAT are around 3.8 UW (4.4 W) and 2100+ respectively your chances would be pretty slim, even with your extracurriculars
