@CCSenioritis Perhaps they didn’t fit well but HumEc is a small college so they also need to look at the RD applicants for comparison and then determine if some ED applicants are still competitive. And I did go to the info session over the summer. Have you gone yet?
@nakiri I went this summer as well. When the guy went around the table and had as all say why cornell i was sweating balls omg
@CCSenioritis it would be great to know people there when we get accepted
@CCSenioritis haha yeah he asked me “what kind of leader are you?” It was so nerve racking.
he asked our group “why are you applying to human ecology and what drew you here” but I knew he was going to ask something like that before(thanks to cc) I went so I already had what I was going to say. I know there was a recruited athlete in my session…so jealous
What if the admissions committee ever read these threads
Yeah there was a legacy in my group too. And if they did, they wouldn’t know who we are anyway!
New to this thing but I’ve been reading through this thread to somewhat share the mutual anxiety about Thursday! I seriously feel so unsure whether or not I will get accepted or rejected. I feel like I have the grades and ACT score, but like no part of my application set me apart from all of the other ED applicants. I also had an interview with an alumni which was very VERY short (only about 20 minutes) because I did not have that many questions about Cornell. So that also makes me feel uneasy. Anyone else feel like this?
I also feel like my biggest fear next to getting rejected is getting deferred because I have been so lazy in filling out other applications because they won’t matter if I get accepted ED, so basically I’ll be screwed and have 10 applications to complete if I’m deferred.
@StressfulJack - I’m in the same boat as you…I’m not motivated to work on my RD’s right now. And if I get rejected or deferred, I definitely will NOT be motivated to work on those either because of stress/sadness/frustration.
@seniorlife555 Same here, and plus if i get rejected my essay probably didn’t work out so I’ll have to rewrite it ugh
@CCSenioritis I went to an admissions session too! It was honestly an interview. The questions they asked and how intently the guy was taking down notes… hopefully it only helps us!!
@nakiri I didn’t know HumEc accepts a lot of deferrals. Now I’m not sure if I should apply ED II to a school.
Are any of you guys applying ED II in case Cornell doesnt work out??
I was going to ED II to Emory if it didn’t work out unless I’m deferred. Then I’ll just apply RD @c0rnell
@c0rnell I was considering Vanderbilt EDII, but I read that it isn’t much easier to get in than RD. Are there really any other good schools with EDII?
pretty much emory, vanderbilt, and boston university @Geocach
@Geocach I’m debating Vanderbilt, Emory, Tufts, and Pomona. I will probably go with Tufts or Vandy.
Here is a list of all the schools that have ED 2
http://www.aristotlecircle.com/sites/default/files/Schools%20Offering%20Early%20Decision%202.pdf
is Ed 2 helpful though? colleges know that if they were your first choice you would have applied ed1 right…
oh i didn’t even know those schools have ed 2
@metacuber A lot of kids don’t have the scores soon enough to apply ED1 so they just ED2. The acceptance rates are lower though usually
Hmm I was afraid that I could apply ED II to another school, get in, but also get into cornell regular round. But if you like your ED II school as much or almost as much as cornell then go for it!
