@c0rnell HumEc also gives a bunch of guaranteed transfers and spring admissions offers if that interests you at all.
For everyone who’s wondering about the acceptance rates of the various colleges, I know this is for regular decision, and its not too recent (for the class entering in the fall of 2011), but if you’re interested take a look:
@nakiri Yeah my general plan if I get rejected is ED2 -->Emory. If I get deferred then I’ll wait until RD and i’m offered GT/spring admission I’ll take it.
@plzacceptmee If you want an updated one there’s one for every single year up to now somewhere earlier in this thread.
@CCSenioritis solid plan! I hope you won’t be rejected right off the bat though!
@c0rnell I love Tufts as well! What major would you pick there since they don’t have PAM?
@nakiri Do you know if ILR does a lot of deferrals and whether or not it gives many GTs or Spring admits? (I’m fairly sure ILR participates in the spring admission program at the very least. . .)
Unrelated, but I actually didn’t know all too much about Human Ecology initially and wasn’t that interested (I’d already had my heart set on ILR haha) so I applied to ILR, but recently I realized that HumEc is probably a better fit for me. (Gahhhhh) If admitted, is it difficult to transfer internally?
@NotAMathlete I’m not sure about deferrals but I know that the contract colleges do more of the guaranteed transfer and spring admissions thing. What major would you have liked at Human Ecology? I’m sure internal transfer is an option.
@CCSenioritis ahahahha I want it, but not badly enough to sift through 114 pages of this thread. Thanks though!
@plzacceptmee Found it! http://irp.dpb.cornell.edu/tableau_visual/admissions lol i just searched “.edu” in the search thingy by 114. I have it bookmarked too xD
@nakiri I really want to do PAM! I ended up reading about it somehow and couldn’t stop thinking about HumEc. At first, ILR appeared to be a good fit and it is pretty decent, but after hearing about PAM it became pretty clear that HumEc felt like a perfect fit. I founded a service club in our school and am on the debate team, because I am passionate about both building stronger communities through service, but also figuring out ways to implement and establish policies which facilitate such changes. Personally, PAM feels like the perfect combination of both humanitarianism and policy.
Sorry, I couldn’t articulate my thoughts that well, but basically I’m interested in PAM in HumEc and while it’s nice to know that internal transfers are possible, now I’m not sure I have enough fit to get into ILR. (Ugh, sorry that this post was so long, but this has been upsetting me for a couple weeks now and I really just wanted to vent a little)
@NotAMathlete Hey, all you have to do is convince the admissions comm. you’re a fit for ILR and you’re good ! They don’t know about all your conflicting thoughts so as long as your essay was A1 i think you’ll be fine !
@CCSenioritis Haha, the problem is that I’m not sure my essay was A1. . .
Guys, at this point I feel like I should’ve saved my $80, written myself a rejection letter and bought a consolation pizza or something. :))
@CCSenioritis there was a recruited athlete in my session too! I wish I had a hook like that lmao. I wonder if we were in the same session because I visited over the summer too… The athlete in my session was a swimmer from Ithaca
@NotAMathlete If you get into your Cornell, your set! Transferring internally into HumEc is very easy as long you can justify why you want to do it. You will have to stay in your home college for one semester and then you are free to explore/ change. Sidenote- PAM definitely seems like an amazing major (I applied for it ED lol)
@NotAMathlete I applied to PAM actually so I obviously agree that it’s a great major lol. I don’t know much about ILR but you must’ve liked something about it so like CCSenioritis said try to convince them you’re a good fit for it! If you get accepted into Cornell you can consider transfer options.
At my session every single person started crying while telling their story lol… I looked super heartless lmao
i feel like the crying would be more annoying than anything else. If I were the admissions officer i would probably prefer a thoughtful answer that is not a sob story.
Ahahah I just wrote my stats thing to post to the 2020 ed results thread, because if I get rejected I doubt I’ll have the heart to do it.
@plzacceptmee I’l end up posting them if i get rejected just maybe not that day lol. I want to help ppl applying RD and next year
Same ahaha, the thread has been helpful
