Cornell Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion

damn i really need one of the likely accepted letter right now lol

@JTheGreat58 I’m gonna excuse myself to go to the bathroom in the middle of basketball practice and open the email there. Hopefully I don’t have to go back to practice crying cause I got rejected lmaooo

wait its already been answered my post was redundant

@RSalvatierra me too! i hope we both get in ahh

@JTheGreat58
Common App: I talked about how I had grandparents who lived in a rural area in India and how they lived 3 hours away from the closest hospital. I then spoke of how when my grandfather had a heart attack, my family was greatly shocked as he almost died and how this experience caused me to become proactive in efforts to improve the state of medicine in India as it is a personal problem to me as I have had a family member suffer due to it. I talked about my involvement in a non-profit organization in raising money for them as well as how I want to join efforts in India in the future.

Supplement: I talked about my interest in neuroscience and why it is so fascinating to me. I then spoke of how I participated in a special program in a hospital and was able to shadow a neurosurgeon for a day and that solidified my interest in neurosurgery and medicine for the future. I then spoke of how the HumEc college’s Human Development major with its focus on Human Neuroscience provides me with the opportunity to explore my interest in neuroscience as well as prepares me for a future in medicine.

Just curious, do you guys think that these essays are good or not? This is the only part of my application which I am genuinely worried about.

Man how epic would it be to get in and bump into each other at Cornell and say, ‘‘we’ve met before haven’t we? In college confidential?’’ :)) :)>- @kolakoala

i’ll be at home for almost 2 hrs by the time decisions come out on thursday so i can try to get myself together after a (hopefully) distracting day of school

i live in asia; results come out 6am where i live… not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing :frowning:

let’s make a giant group Skype Chat with everyone so we can see each of our reactions to opening our decisions!
jkjk
that’s a bad idea. I dont want someone to see me cry.

At this point I’m not even sure I want to open up my decision right when it come out. I’d need to calm down first

Results come out at 6pm where I live. Honestly, I prefer 6pm then 6am. Something about finding out first thing in the morning doesn’t appeal to me. @kolakoala

I can’t even do homework right now, alI I can do is stalk this thread…extremely unproductive weekend.

Common app was about my year abroad in the biggest slum in Africa. Talked about how it shaped me and my ideologies.

Supplement was about how i’ve always been a green freak and how my experience abroad lured me further into sustainability. I also mentioned different clubs, programs, centers, classes, professors I know, etc that all correspond well with my application. My stats are dismal so I spent 9 months on my essays lmao

Fingers crossed.

does anyone know how the decision portal is laid out? is the “Congratulations” acceptance page or “Thank you for applying” rejection page going to be the first thing we see when we log in or do we log in, click a link, and then it’ll show up?

I’m going to be in my math class when the results come out.

And @corgis I think you’ll be able to realize really quickly if you got in or not

I’ve been wondering the exact same thing myself. I believe last year’s acceptance letter began with ‘‘Congratulations!’’ but I have also seem something from past years along the lines of ‘‘We have reviewed your application and we are delighted to inform you that you have been accepted’’ which is kind of nerve-wracking. However, it will take you less than 3 seconds to find out if you got in or not after you open that letter. :-??

well i know a lot of colleges have a link inside your portal you click that’s basically a scan of your decision letter you’ll be physically receiving in the mail. and i know cornell has that letter on the portals as well (based on the #cornell2019 on instagram) @joshy171

@davidwaloo hey that’s an interesting story! How did you end up in Africa though? Did you go to school there for an entire year?

i think its starting to get a little unhealthy looking at how the acceptance ones look vs the rejection ones. let’s just focus on our day work for school and finals and think of them when they come.
