I got in!!!
@jacbellini Congrats!!! Are you able to access the enrollment form?
I don’t think I’m able to yet I only got an email saying my transfer application was approved and that my official acceptance letter will come next week ! @aihcxx
Congrats! @jacbellini @theACThatesme Looks like we’ll all be in ILR next year.
I just got the ILR email I’m so ecstatic!!
Congrats everyone! Hopefully all of us will hear soon!
Just thought I’d let you all know that I called HumEc today to ask when I could be expecting enrollment information, and they said that welcome packets will start being mailed next Tuesday for those who have already been accepted. So if you’re like me and are extremely anxious about the whole enrollment system don’t worry because we’re not supposed to have access to it yet!
@theACThatesme @jacbellini @aihcxx @igaspard @throwaway2101
Since you all have been accepted, can you help us with information about whether you were able to meet all the GPA requirements or was there a glitch (no matter how minor) in your plan? e.g. a single B- .
Also, did you do anything besides academics in the past year which you then put on the transfer application?
This information will will really help us who need to plan out our next year.
Also share anything else that you wish you had known at this time last year. (I wouldn’t ask you to repeat anything that you have already spoken in detail earlier like aihcxx has done. Just give us new information which occurred to you)
Thanks in advance.
Wondering when everyone else is gonna hear. I’m getting so anxious
@cricketfan so im at Fordham lincoln center and they chose our schedules for us first semester and that stressed me out because I was worried it would set me back in terms of meeting the requirements. But the schedule worked out pretty well, and I was able to choose classes for this semester with my requirements in mind–it was no problem really. For ILR we needed a 3.3 and nothing below a B and i met that requirement. I haven’t done any clubs and that didn’t hurt me at all–they just want you to get the grades. I didn’t know what i was going to do about telling my friends, but they actually asked me about it because i had pictures on social media. so they’ve known this whole time and they are really happy for me (i got really lucky). I would say that if you’re living at home you talk with your parents about what that means in terms of when you go out and stuff because it’s been a constant fight of me coming home super early cuz my parents set a curfew as if i wasn’t in college (but honestly they’ve given up at this point).
@cricketfan Yes, I’ve had a decent amount of trouble keeping my grades in the required biology courses. I’m absolutely not a science person, so labs are a huge struggle for me. Hopefully I’ll be finishing with B+/B in both of them but if not I’ll be making a desperate visit to my TAs’ offices next week (side note: if you’re struggling, tell your teachers why- I’ve found them to be very sympathetic towards issues with the TO, especially in courses where it’s obvious that I’m way out of my element, and most profs will be willing to work with you to make sure that you’re where you need to be). I’ll be doing some independent study this summer as a refresher on some of the foundation courses for my major that I AP-tested out of, as I’m not totally confident in my ability to jump straight into an intermediate level course at Cornell in a subject I haven’t taken since high school.
As for other things I’ve done, I joined a few clubs on campus but didn’t get super involved because I knew I would be leaving and didn’t want to commit to anything big. The HumEc essay on the TO application asks you to write about what you’ve been up to outside the classroom so if you’re a HumEc applicant you should definitely get involved so you can scrape together a paragraph about that lol
Originally applied as a first semester sophomore for spring 2017 transfer, but was offered TO for fall 2017 transfer instead. Maxed out 18 credits both semesters of Freshman year, and had appeals to take 21 credits during fall 2016 semester and spring 2017 semester. 4.0 midterm report, with three recommendation letters, research experience, leadership in one club, and leadership in my sorority. I hope this helps, and best of luck to you.
@igaspard @aihcxx - Thanks again for your response.
@throwaway2101 - WOW !!! You did all this in the past year? You scare me !!!
Did your application ask for new Letters of Recommendations? I know you are going to HumEc and it’s application is different from ILR which is my college. I was thinking of playing it safe and focusing only on academics and GPA but now I think I should look at one or two activities also.
@cricketfan my friend is at Cornell and was offered TO when she applied in high school. She is also ILR! She was fine. Cornell was even accommodating for other TO applicants who did not make grades but agreed to retake the same courses again over the summer. You will do great!
@throwaway2101 that’s so reassuring to hear. I’m an ILR TO and still waiting to hear back
@ccollege2020 Did you get a grade slightly lower than 3.3? I got 3.24 last semester and I’m super worried that I’ll get rejected or rescinded because of that QwQ.
@MachuPichu yes I had just a little under a 3.3 last semester and I’m super worried about what is going to happen. My grades are great this semester
So I’m hoping they see some improvement
@MachuPichu @ccollege2020 are you guys in contact with the head Transfer guy, I think his name is ian or something like that…
Also where did you guys go for freshman year?
I heard, when I called the admission office, that if you’re under the 3.3, you get your transfer option revoked, and you are then lumped in with the rest of the transfer students… Essentially your “guarantee” is gone. However, you guys should call and ask.
Also, this could be false, idk, but by the 18th, all TO’s are done, and they move onto the regular transfer students and things of that sort.
@aihcxx can you elaborate a little more… Im super worried too, as I don’t have any info pertaining to the enrollment, accepting offer, getting my id, and things of that sort. What did they tell u
@verizonwireless I called because I received my acceptance letter in the mail earlier this week with no information about how to accept the offer- they told me that people who had already received letters (I think they’ve already notified some in HumEc and ILR) would be getting their formal “welcome packet” with enrollment info next week. I’m not sure what the situation is for people who haven’t gotten anything yet but I would imagine that you’d be hearing back soon!
@verizonwireless I’ve been in contact w Ian since I first got the offer last year so now I’m just waiting to hear back about my admissions decision
