I second with @verizonwireless . I chose to go to Carnegie Mellon for my freshman year because people told me I should choose a college I would be content with staying in the chance that the TO doesn’t work out. BIGGEST REGRET OF MY LIFE.
Stressful af freshman year, GO TO A COMMUNITY COLLEGE!! Cornell regards a 4.0 at a community college much higher than a 3.0 at a prestigious college. It’s honestly ridiculous.
thank you both for answering!!! I’ve been struggling with a decision, but have been leaning towards exactly what you both are saying!!! i went to accepted students day for a couple of the schools I got into but felt like I A) wouldn’t want to leave after a year B) would get attached C) would struggle to get good grades and D) would be wasting my parents money. Do y’all have any other advice about the TO? @verizonwireless@MachuPichu
@verizonwireless Congrats! They told me I should be getting the letter by Thursday based on where I live but they’ll be sending them out to accepted applicants Tuesday!
What other schools have you been accepted to? Perhaps some are better than Cornell-- if that’s the case, go there. Also, Communication, why? Why not major in something more appealing? As for other advice, I would say that you should take it easy… Do not, under any circumstances, take a million classes. Get your 30 credits, and get out of the school you go to for freshman year and into Cornell. A girl who went to bing with me took 7 classes her freshman year in order to get to Cornell, she wanted to get her reqs done quickly. Backfired. She is now staying in Bing…
@MachuPichu would you stay at Carnegie Mellon? Like, whats so bad about it? I’m just curious? Also, whoever said that is being foolish-- your TO cannot not work if you get the grades, its literally guaranteed. Moreover, if you go to a CC, and get less than the prereq, you wouldn’t qualify for the TO in the 1st place. There is a reason why they dont give them to everyone.
@aihcxx Are you gonna visit the campus? I rlly want to see it, never been there. Also, did you apply as a transfer applicant anywhere else, because I kinda regret not doing that.
As for the letters, did they send yours out already? And in the letters that are being shipped on Tues, do we get to access the things on the portal and pay the deposit, apply for housing, and things of that sort… or is that info going to be emailed to us, as it was to the regular accepted students (non TO)… I’m still super confused as to how the process works.
Cornell is my dream school, so I will be 100% pursuing the TO. Also, Communication is very appealing to me…as I want to pursue a career in Journalism or something to do with writing. I have been accepted to Bucknell, NYU, ConnCollege, Trinity, UConn, and a few others. @verizonwireless
Question for those who have been ‘through this wringer’ already:
Did you take any courses on-line for your TO requirement?
OR
Is it required to take classes in an instructor led classroom only?
My CC offers many classes online and if those are allowed then it will make my scheduling a lot easier. I am trying to complete by Associates degree in addition to completing the TO requirements.
mine says “Fall transfer applicants: Please note that transfer admission decisions are communicated on a rolling basis beginning in mid-April. Applicants will receive an email when decisions can be viewed.”
@litlhoward2468 I have the same message, but isn’t it weird that they’re saying midnight? Aren’t decisions usually released in the afternoon? I’m wondering if they meant noon tomorrow instead of midnight tonight…
