Cornell Class of 2020 Guaranteed Transfer Discussion Thread

sooooo… does HumEc have a chatter or group made by Cornell or are we left dry?

Does anyone know how Cornell’s financial aid packages have ended up being for TO students in the past?

@jacbellini according to previous TO students, they were very similar to what they got on the calculator and have been as good as first year students’.

@rhdhtai thank you!

Anyone planning on going to the open house on July 22nd?

Is that open house for GTO students or in general? My daughter hasn’t heard about a open house.

It’s for GTO. I think it was on the daily digest from the Chatter group. It was just yesterday so I’m sure something official will come out soon.

I’m 99.9 percent sure we will attend, if there is an open house!

I was offered GT to ILR! How do I find the Facebook group/chatter group that was mentioned earlier? Is it on the email they sent and maybe I just glossed over it? I’m going to accept the offer and want to connect/talk with other students going through this same process.

@theACThatesme, congrats and I love your screen name. My S would agree with that sentiment. I believe the chatter invite was in the welcome email. Once you join you can log in and you also get a daily digest. I like that because my S isn’t ready to get too involved, but I can scan it and keep updated on things.

@CAMidwestMom Thank you!! Also, I just read over the emails that I’ve received and still couldn’t locate a link. Any other advice on where I should look?

@theACThatesme Ok I looked back. He got a welcome email and it said soon you will get an invite and then he got a link to log in using the email on his app account. Let me PM you w more info.

@CAMidwestMom Im in the same boat. The last email I received was the confirmation of me accepting my spot for the ILR TO, nothing about a chatter.

Same here.

Sorry, this Chatter is for CALS. Did your email say that there would be a Chatter group?

Hello there! I am quite new to college confidential, but I received a Transfer Option for CAS for the class of 2019 and was admitted on the 19th. I was unable to find much information about the process last year, so I thought I would see if I could help answer some questions.

Congratulations! My son is a candidate for next year. He has his orientation and registration for fall in June. When did you connect w a counselor or someone at Cornell to help you coordinate which classes would work. Our state flagship is not in their online database.

@CAMidwestMom - As I received a Transfer Option (TO) for the College of Arts and Sciences, I did not have any course requirements beyond a 3.5 gpa (indeed, I even changed my career track after my first semester from the sciences to the humanities). Because of this relative freedom, I assume, no one at Cornell contacted me until the TO application went live in October. However, I know that most other schools at Cornell have a designated counselor to help prospective transfers, and that he or she normally sends a few informational emails over the summer explaining how to choose classes and how to get in touch with someone for individual guidance.

Thank you @ViolaCesario12. It’s great that you didn’t have the requirements, although I get why they do that. It just adds some complexity to the process and could be a deal breaker and the kids have to deal with what they are given at the other schools to some extent. Thanks again and good luck next year!

@ViolaCesario12 how was the application process for cas? Another essay? Did it seem like the TO gave you a substantial advantage or was it much like applying to transfer like any other student? thanks!!
