Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

I was devastated when I got deferred from Cornell early decision as policy analysis and management. Hope the competition was low for regular and I get in.

CAS, LL but no email. Stop worrying guys!

Btw isn’t it the Ivy blackout period now?

@mprut0987 Yes; likely letters ended on March 15, and notification happens on March 31. The only contact between those two dates might be an email notifying us officially of Ivy Day (March 31).

PSA:

“To improve Cornell’s competitiveness in recruiting and enrolling undergraduate students, Cornell strives to match the family contribution and lower loan level of financial aid offers from other Ivy League schools, as well as need-based offers from Stanford, Duke, and MIT.”

I think the emails weren’t only sent by HumEc

CoE, got LL, no email, no mail
tbh Cornell is so weird. What even is that March 14 “you will be admitted” thing???

If I said no to being considered for first-year spring admission on the common app is there any chance that i could still get a guaranteed transfer from HumEc? I don’t think I’ll get in RD (deferred ED) and I’ve heard that a lot of deferred CHE kids get some sort of late-start offer. Although it isn’t ideal i might take it but i’m worried that i didn’t even give myself the opportunity.

@Bluebrry I am hoping they accept a lot of deferred ED students

@cuhopeful16 on the bright side, cornell does not defer as much as the rest of the ivies.

@Bluebrry that is the only thing that is giving me hope

@cuhopeful16 what major did you apply for?

@Bluebrry nutrition science in CHE

policy analysis and management here, (in humanecology)

@Bluebrry good luck I hope there are enough spots for us

Any new news from SHA Class of 2020 applicants? Curious to know if any of the Admissions guidelines and/or standards have changed on the heels of merging SHA, Dyson, and Johnson come Fall 2016. Please weigh in with opinions (up or down). Does Cornell’s late President’s vision to create of a Top 3 B-School (among HBS & Wharton) bode well for SHA grads, or not? Many Hotelies believe it takes THE Best program of its kind on Earth and dims their bright shining halo! What say you, prospective Hotelies?!

Got an email from Dartmouth today confirming the Ivy Date of March 31st (which pretty much everyone knew already lol) but Cornell still hasn’t gotten in touch with me  During ED they sent me like 3 different emails so its kind of worrying that I haven’t heard anything from them since December.

guys i got a likely letter from here but have barely gotten in anywhere else since LOL

i’m honestly so scared tbh like i put so much of my effort into Cornell and i just don’t want to see it go to waste :frowning: i applied to humec for Global and Public Health Sciences

@hayley636 I’m having the same problem.

I just hopped over from UCB thread to the Cornell thread since UCB’s decision was released and there is no more point of me staying there anymore. I hope I get good news again from Cornell as well :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello everyone
