Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

Do you have any idea how competitive is it to get into Cornell this year?

Probably more competitive than last year. Although, I must say, I do know 4 people that already got in at my school (class is 400).

why do u think it will be more competitive this year? I’m international btw

@jackisawesome Does that influence the decision for other students? Four students have already been accepted in my D’s school too.

I don’t know how competitive it will be this year. Early decision was ridiculous. Previously everyone from my school who applied ED got in. This year I was the only one that got deferred everyone else was rejected.

I haven’t received a single email from Cornell after applying (except about financial aid). Is this basically a sign that I was rejected?

@catepillargiraf dunno, didn’t get an email either

only have brown, cornell, georgetown left… hope for best

guys honestly at this point it’s pointless to worry yourselves. i’m hoping not receiving an email is not a sign of rejection, but we will find out in less than a week.

lol I somehow believe that not receiving anything is a good thing…My friend applied to Columbia early last year and got in, but he never received anything. Literally nothing. So hopefully it is an ivy thing to not send anything to admitted students. Just a wild speculation though, don’t take me seriously lol.

@TrazCapDEV I don’t think so, some people who were emailed received LLs

LL, no emails from anyone. No correlation, guys!!

Does anyone know if there’s a link anywhere with the acceptance rates/stats of each school (instead of the overall) ?

I always get emails from Cornell about taking summer courses and other things. I even got a few emails from the Cornell diversity people and multicultural recruitment about workshops ( which I attended just to try and show interest which cornell doesn’t care about lol) and other things about multicultural stuff. I just think its because I’m Hispanic lol

@lolog123 It is a joke lol. Like I said, don’t take it seriously

She got an acceptance letter ~wk ago.

She got a letter, regular mail

Letter essentially says while not official day yet

“You will be offered admission to Cornell.”

Is anyone’s “Financial aid to do list” empty in their Cornell portal?

@Zummies Yeah, it says that there’s nothing on the to-do list as of now. Probably gets updated after decisions are released? I don’t know for sure though…
