@CUTransfer2018 - I and at least 3 others on this forum are awaiting the TO notification from ILR college. Some in CALS and HumEc have already received.
Not sure about SHA, perhaps someone will answer.
It does not seem like all colleges send out the TO details at the same time.
Just received the TO email from ILR college.
I received the TO email from the ILR college as well, looks like everyone will get their followup information today!
After seeing how specific the course requirements for ILR TO’s were, I’m very glad that I will be attending a community college to fulfill them. Luckily my CC has a highly rated honor’s program with lots of class options so I’ll be able to fulfill what’s been asked. How’s everyone else feeling?
@littlehorn3 That’s awesome news, sounds like it’ll work out really well for you! A couple of us planning on going to UC’s are really concerned about being able to meet the requirements. I for one genuinely don’t know how it’s going to work out, and I’m working at trying to get answers soon (same w the others).
I’m trying to weigh things out properly. If I go to a CC it’s possible that I’ll have an easier access to my required courses (HumEC) and also maintain a strong GPA. On the other hand, if I go to a UC then I can begin my college experience the way that I would like to; plus, I’m worried about the TO not working out overall, so I’d like to be at a place where I could stay for 4 years. Still though, I don’t even know if the requirements can be attained at a UC.
Given the guaranteed transfer option to ILR.
It’s something i’d absolutely love to consider/do, only worry is the cost. Any other GT attending Florida State University (FSU) for their first year? if so, i’d love to connect/keep in touch!
@tocollege182 Hey, so CALS has this “Chatter” group (it’s like Facebook) for all the TO candidates, and it seems like there’s quite a few of us all going to UC’s. I’m not sure how it’s going to be for HumEc, but with the amount of people going to UC’s, I feel like Cornell will be able to provide advice and help for us all. Hopefully this will be somewhat comforting to hear.
@forest2021 Oh really? I’m super glad to hear that! Was the Chatter set up by Cornell CALS itself or should I be making one for HumEc? I’m more optimistic about Cornell being able to help all of us UC kids now! Thank you!
@tocollege182 let me know if you want to talk more about going to a CC to hash out concerns/benefits! I guess I don’t feel too bothered by the “loss” of a college experience by doing my first year at a CC. I feel like I’m still getting that with the GT, as there will still be a lot of transfers who will be just as new to it. I understand the anxiety of whether or not the GT will work out. I’m planning on applying to a couple of “safety” schools as well just to have some insurance in case everything goes wrong.
I read in a past GT thread that they started a facebook group for everyone pursuing GT. Would that be something people on here would be interested in?
@tocollege182 It was set up by Cornell CALS itself, and a link was emailed out. Hopefully HumEc will do the same!
@littlehorn3 Yeah, I was just thinking about that! I think a facebook group would be nice to have.
@soulsurfer99 @forest2021 Guys that’s so cool we’re all going to Davis!! I’m excited
Also received my TO email from ILR today!
@littlehorn3 Thank you! I totally get a lot of what you’re saying, I’m probably just gonna have to think about it more thoroughly (I’ll probably post what I’m thinking on here periodically to help others out too haha)
I wouldn’t mind a facebook group either!
@soulsurfer99 @jesuslover2021 On the CALS Chatter group, I’ve been talking to about 6-8 other people who are also going to UC Davis!! Once we’re all there we’re all going to have to try to meet up or something!
Hey guys! I made a Facebook group for all guaranteed transfers. Look up “Cornell University Class of 2021 - Guaranteed Transfers” and I’ll add you!
I was just wondering what y’all are all saying when people ask you where you are going for college? I swear I get this question at least two times a day and I have no idea how to respond.
@kmissymay I relate!! I swear to god that’s the only thing adults can think to ask anymore… I swear there are more interesting parts about me I’d much prefer to talk about!! I’ve gone with “I’ve been offered guaranteed transfer, which is essentially late admission, to enter as a sophomore in Fall 2018 at Cornell University under the stipulation that I complete some courses at a college of my choice in the year in between.”
I know it’s not actually a “late admission” or called “guaranteed transfer” but people seem to understand that a lot better that explaining the whole whys and hows of the transfer option. Worked for me so far!
@kmissymay I’ve just been saying something along the lines of “I got a guaranteed sophomore year transfer to Cornell so I’m attending UC Davis for my freshman year” and if they seem to want to hear more then I’ll explain the “guaranteed transfer” part a bit more.
