Cornell Class of 2024 ED

Deferred SHA

@dscollege I heard SHA doesn’t take a lot of candidates ED and that being deferred is the norm for qualified students. A lot of them receive guaranteed transfer options as well. Stay positive!

@Chica2604 thanks for the kind words. I really hope it works out! And, congratulations on your acceptance!

Hey guys! I emailed the financial aid office last night about when financial aid packages for admitted students would be released and they said that, as long as a student has submitted all documents prior to the November 21st deadline, then they will start releasing today. After receiving that response from them, I then got an email notification of my financial aid offer and was able to view it successfully. Make sure to be attentive to your emails, guys, because they can come out at any time today or the next few days! I’m so relieved.

@galaxygirl did the email provide a link to see the financial aid or did you just have to go to Check Application Status on the financial aid page?

@lablover69 It provided a direct link to the application portal where you have to log in using your Applicant ID and password, but I’m sure it will still show up even if you just log in directly. However, I would just wait for the email just to be sure that it’s actually there and still doesn’t say, “Inquiry access denied,” like it did yesterday. It was a really quick and convenient access though once you receive the notification; no complications at all.

@Harsh24 tbh a 1440 for Cornell would put you in the middle 50%. It makes you a super competitive applicant pretty much everywhere except for the ivies. Being an international student doesn’t help either, especially in such a competitive ED field. But you’ll have your choice of other schools. Don’t give up!

Question: Are LLs sent to top academic candidates?? I know how they are used in athletics – LLs are super important when competing for recruited athletes. LLs are issued to RAs (after a long dating and academic evaluation process) beginning on Oct 1st each year. Most IVY coaches attempt to lock in their recruits in Sep, Oct then the RA applies ED.

Hey guys, have any of you received your letter in the mail yet? I figured it would arrive yesterday or today, but I still haven’t received mine yet. However, it’s probably going to arrive next week, but I’m just curious if anyone got theirs already.

I have not. Neither I received any financial aid notification. Have you?

@Chica2604 I got my financial aid package yesterday in an email which then provided a link to view the offer. The financial aid office said that they’re going to release them starting yesterday so it’s probably going to arrive next week (if you haven’t received it yet) as long as you submitted all required documents prior to the November 21st deadline.

Do you know around how many people get accepted ED for SHA? I also got deferred and I’m not sure how likely my chances are that I’ll get in RD

they got their letters 2-3 days after decision day last year i think

I don’t know if this is a stupid question but does Cornell defer everyone that doesn’t get into ilr? I haven’t seen anyone say that they’ve gotten denied

No letter yet here

@tifftay6 @fourstarfun @jij7712 would you guys wanna make a group chat somewhere? Get to know our future classmates?

We got the letter today but we are only 60 miles from Cornell. So most others should start arriving Monday.

@v73631902 Search “Cornell Class of 2024” on Facebook, there are a bunch of group chat links

What is a “likely letter” please?
