Cornell Deciding Between Majors

Hi all!!

I was debating between showing interest in the health care policy major vs. global/public health sciences. What are the major/minor differences?

Why would one apply to one and not the other? I know Cornell is big for fit so are there certain courses/activities that the school is looking for in one or the other?

Does anyone have any personal experiences in either?

No experience, but i suggest you approach them as follows:

First look into the major requirements for each, the specific required courses, see which appeals to you more.

Then: One is in Hum Ec, the other is in CALS. Look at the detailed course, in-college credit and distribution requirements for each college, determine whether one is relatively too constraining, whether you will be forced to take courses that don’t interest you, moreso in one case than the other, etc.

Finally if you decide that your initially chosen major is not for you, you will have to change majors. This is more easily accomplished with majors within the same college, because otherwise you would have to apply for an internal transfer.
So what other majors in ag or Hum Ec might appeal to you, if the ones you are thinking about now lose their luster?
