Cornell Democrats

Hey how are the Cornell Democrats? At my school right now (GT) I'm right near Boston so we were super active in Deval Patrick's campaign and saw a ton of politicians speak n such. When I am at Cornell during the '08 campaign will we be doing such things? I'm still so excited off of what just happened here that I'm interested to know if it'll happen again in the future. Does the group travel a lot? I'm assuming if Clinton ran we would be able to see her (even tho she probably wouldn't campaign in NY a ton since they already like her). And if Barack ran I wouldn't see him much either way (although I did c him at a Patrick rally). OK back from tangent...so how is the club? Active in the '06 campaign?

I was just at the Patrick Victory party last night and it was sooo amazing. Saw Patrick, Kennedy, Kerry, Murray, and a few others. Great stuff!!!

i know that in general the democrat presence is very strong on campus. For the individual questions you ask, you may be better off just emailing a representative from the Cornell democrat's society (look them up online). They do have a very active student newspaper (Turn Left) and I'm sure there's all sorts of announcements of events in there.

Hey! Last night was the craziest, most wonderful night ever!! The state candidate I interned for won, so I fully understand the extent of your excitement!!!! I also hope Cornell democrats are highly active in the political spectrum; it will be so much fun to take part in the elections ;) and to actually meet some great candidates, it will be amazing!!! I’m so excited to know a politically passionate fellow GT :)

Ya I'm getting more and more excited as time passes.

Took Mass (the candidate I campaigned for wooo)!!!
Took House!!!!
Taking Senate (o yes ladies and gentlemen)!!!!!
Rumsfeld stepped down!!
No on anti-abortion law!!
No on gay marriage ban in Arizona!!

We are goin places!!! :) :) :)

(who did you intern for?)

Marsha Swails, MN house, and helped Wetterling (us house) who sadly lost :(
But it didn't stop the Dems from taking over!!!! Yeah, this is what I call good stuff :)
Rumsfeld, hahahah… enough said!
And it keeps getting better!
p.s. did you hear Bush's speech today! Hehehe…

no, I'll search for it tho lol. Wednesdays are my busiest days so I'm catching up now hah

Ya all the MA people won by a ton so Deval was the only non-incumbent that I hardcore supported.

Deval (He's soooo amazing. Such a great person and politician) - 56%
Healey - 35%
Mihos (alum from my school...random lol) - 7%
Ross - 2%

Ted Kennedy (love this guy lol) - 69%
Chase - 31%

My Congressman (Lynch) - 78%

MA is liberal and I loooooove it lol. CT was a different story tho lol. Our repub gov is actually good so I voted for her anyways (Rell). Leiberman won...cough. House race was weird tho...I'm not there right now so I'm not really hearing things but it was a 50%-50% tie with the dem winning by a couple hundred...donno whats happening with that...if fact I'll look it up now lol.

edit: WOW HE WON BY 167 VOTES!!! Every vote counts!! wow!

But ya...great stuff! lol

Yeah, I can't believe Bachmann beat out Wetterling by like 60% of the vote. Safe districts, pah! Oh well, Klobuchar won! Hurrah!

Who's Congressman of the Ithaca area?

"No on gay marriage ban in Arizona!!"

figgy, this passed in 8 other states

20 are also poised to do the same

Also, it is important to note that same sex marriage is illegal in Arizona. This proposition would have only placed it into the constitution, much like the other states which had such measures. Our governor, Janet Napolitano, said to the citizens of Arizona over and over how pointless and how big of a waste of time this proposition would be if passed. I'm assuming that if it wasn't for that, it would have passed. I mean, it was BARELY voted down.

good point

basically the constitutional motion is to secure a definition of marriage for FUTURE generations, so that there is no question as to whether or not two people of the same gender can marry in coming years

Ya that's true. Well at least Arizona took a step in the right direction. Love is love. Some day we'll learn...

Randomness: lol Cornell came up AGAIN today in class. We were watching a movie on 9/11, but from the direction of Arabs and such. They ended up at the Cornell campus in the Middle East. I was like hah, Cornell is everywhere lol (Already knew the campus was there, I just found it funny that Cornell keeps coming up in different ways in my classes)

Hahaha… funny! Yeah same here, I guess it’s on my mind so often that I’m always alert when there’s even the slightest mention of it ;)

"at least Arizona took a step in the right direction"

questionable
