Cornell Economics vs. Berkeley Haas

I’m having trouble choosing between Cornell (CAS, Economics) and Berkeley (Pre-Business, hopefully Haas). I’m also considering a double major in Government or PolySci.
I enjoy diversity and city life, and I like Berkeley, but the fact that it’s a UC carries several disadvantages. Also, I don’t know enough about Cornell to make a sound decision between the two schools.

+I’m still waiting on my financial aid summary from Cornell, so I can’t factor cost into my decision yet.

++I’m also considering a few waitlist options: UChicago (Econ), MIT (Econ), Williams, Amherst, Georgetown (McDonough)
And I can’t decide which waitlists to accept. Chicago was one of my top choices, but I heard the waitlist is extremely long, and I doubt I’ll get enough financial aid.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks!

Post again when you have the financial aid offers and your other acceptances. Choice may become clearer.

Berkeley is definitely urban while Cornell is more bucolic. Both will provide equally fantastic educations.

How do costs compare (in the net price calculator if you have not gotten the actual financial aid offer)?

Is your main interest business, economics, or mathematical pre-PhD economics?

Accept all waitlists, but be aware that they are unlikely. But if you do get an admission, you can consider it then.

“I don’t know enough about Cornell to make a sound decision between the two schools”
This sounds somewhat obvious to me, but:

then read up on it.

If you’re not even willing to do that, then it appears to me that in fact you have made a decision, after all. Whether sound or otherwise, a decision nevertheless will have been made.

It’s not too much to suggest visiting either, if you are really serious about maybe spending the next four years someplace. Unless that’s simply impossible, for both schools.
