Care to elaborate?

Do not waste time worrying about odds. Apply to colleges you truly care about and where your grades and GPA are comparable to enrolled students. Ivy League colleges are a lottery for even the strongest applicants.

If you truly want to go to Cornell applying in October with thoughtful essays that demonstrate a deep understanding of the program you are applying to gives you a 20% or 30% chance of admission, the same odds as other strong October applicants.

My D had same SAT score, slightly higher GPA, IB diploma. She applied on a whim, didn’t show much interest, and as expected, was not accepted. I agree with alanhouston…you have a chance if you show interest and your essay strikes a nerve. Best of luck!
