Cornell ED Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

I applied ED to Dyson as well. What are your stats?

^ @PV01

Do you think they will send out the email soon regarding early decision and the notification date. Last year they sent it out on the 5th of december, which was a tuesday. Because of that could they possibly be emailing us tomorrow, on tuesday the 4th, regarding early decision and our official notification date??

People - make sure you are continuously checking your financial aid to do list. Every time we submit what they ask, they remove it and then ask for something else! They also never asked for my daughter’s 1040, but I decided to upload it to IDOC anyway because the CSS said some schools want it and I figured better to stick it in there so that I don’t have to deal with it later if Cornell or some other school asks. Well, I’m glad I did, because now Cornell wants her W2. So literally every day it IS something else and it is the biggest pain in the butt!

I can’t imagine how many people don’t have financial aid applications completed when they have to give the admissions decision. I can’t believe they actually process all of this stuff for all the ED applicants that apply for Aid even though most won’t even be accepted to the school!

@all4lax They usually send it 3 days in advance. Last year it was sent early because they had to change the date of the admissions decision from December 7th to December 11th.

@rnjstjdngsm They may only accept more students and defer them for Spring admission 2020 which is a trend a lot of schools are starting to do to fill spots of students that do Study Abroad programs, graduate early, or drop out. Cornell has this too but I believe it’s only for Liberal Arts and one other school. I know COE definitely does not have it.

Applying for financial aid even though you can afford it, does it reduces the acceptance decision or both (admission and financial aid package) are two separate process?

My stats are pretty average compared to admitted Dyson students. I am hoping ECs and my essay will push me over the top. I think I’ll be deferred.

@parent2001 No, it shouldn’t as they are a need-blind school. They don’t even ask on the common app unlike other need-blind schools if you will be applying for financial aid. So it should definitely be two completely separate “entities” making the decision if they are truly need blind as they say.

GUYS, https://blog.■■■■■■■■■■■/blog-0/class-of-2023-early-decision-notification-dates?success=true
says it is going to be on December 10th? I guess this is official???

I agree. Kinda tedious to do everything financial aid but I did not run into any problems like yours. Ah well… here’s to hoping it was worth it haha

Any blog not run by Cornell admissions is not official. The link to Cornell from Ivywise still says mid-December.

@skieurope check it it literally says December 10th.

Is your guys “Check application status” still blank when you go on your financial aid portal? When I click on it, its still blank

The Cornell page “literally” says mid-December @all4lax . That’s the page that matters. Ivywise (which as a secondary source is not an authoritative one) linked the Cornell page to validate as the source, yet there is no validation to be had.

did not alot of people apply ed to ILR this year?

okay I was saying blog.ivywise does. I know UPENN just released the official date. Cornell should be releasing soon

Is anyone else applying for environmental engineering in CALS? Also, does anyone know if Cornell admits by major or by school?

Upenn Dec 13 7pm EST results released…middle of night for us if Cornell is same time

@daddog what do you mean middle of the night
