^ earlier in this discussion people were debating over whether it was the 6th or the 10th.
@coniston1 yea sure! I’m also new so I’m not really sure how everything works
@Megsisstressed I think someone called the admission and they said it is going to be 12/10 7pm EST but no one is really sure yet. I think we have to wait until cornell posts on the website
I just checked my to do list and it got updated saying I’d been selected for federal verification and I could complete this using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. I think I’m just getting ahead of myself but does anyone know if this means anything in terms of the admissions officers looking more at my application or if it’s just something that everyone receives?
@godplshelpme It does not mean anything about admissions. The FA office has no idea what the admissions office is looking at. FA prepares a package for every, single ED applicant to be ready.
Does anyone’s financial aid say “inquiry access denied?” What does that mean?
@roshni8181 where do you check the financial aid thing you’re talking about?
If you were chosen for federal verification that’s like an audit. I think 25% of all people who fill out fafsa get that. You need to verify your information and they want you to prove that you haven’t falsified anything or reported anything inaccurately whether intentional or inadvertent.
@roshni8181 i got that too. i have a feeling that it’s there because you’re trying to check your financial aid package before admissions come out. it says “inquiry access denied,” meaning you can’t view your financial aid decisions. i’m not 100% sure though.
@srparent15 do you know if we verify it?
@weirdflexbutokay If you were chosen for verification it will tell you and then tell you what you need to do, like the other person it said they can be verified by the IRS data retrieval tool. That means you get a user id and pw from the IRS (it takes a few days) and they connect electronically to the IRS and pull the information directly from your tax return. It was how you could have filled out your FAFSA to begin with, so maybe if you did that originally you are less likely to be chosen for the verification because they know they can match that up with the numbers. Anyone can upload a return saying it’s what they filed. It doesn’t mean they actually filed that return, however, the data retrieval with the IRS would verify if it is. If that makes sense? Plus using that saves a ton of work. There are circumstances you can’t use the data retrieval, but most people can.
Where does it say financial aid status inquiry denied? If your list is otherwise empty? We had to submit one more item yesterday so that still shows up, but should be empty (hopefully) soon once it clears IDOC and is received by Cornell.
@srparent15 It doesn’t necessarily tell to verify, it just says “inquiry access denied.” This is not in my financial aid to-do list. I was searching around for what @roshni8181 found and it is in the actual financial aid results page where you would eventually see how much Cornell would be able to provide such that you get accepted. I think it’s reasonable that you can’t see how much you “get” because decisions have not even been released yet.
@weirdflexbutokay That makes sense. I know I was clicking that at one of the other schools my daughter applied to and basically got the same type of response since she hasn’t been accepted or denied. Same thing when I log on to Fafsa to try to see amounts given.
@weirdflexbutokay ok thanks!
6 days!! i am so nervous ahhhhh
So uhm, I missed the financial aid deadline. Is it possible to apply for financial aid for sophomore year and tank the tuition for freshman year if you get in?
Does Cornell generally give good financial aid? From my other uni acceptances, I didn’t really get much to make a difference in tuition for the year.

Hey guys, does anyone know how I am supposed to submit the certification aid form? I’m super confused and its the last thing I have to do on my list. I filled it out, then printed it, and signed it with ink. Then, I took a picture of it. What am I supposed to do with the picture? Do I just upload it as an additional document on IDOC?
I did that, but I’m worried that now all of the schools I applied to will have access to the Cornell financial aid form - and I don’t want them knowing I applied there! I’m really worried. Did I do this right? If not, how do I send in the picture of my certification aid form? I’ve looked everywhere online and cant find it out
wow only 1549/6325 admitted to ED last year.
1500 ppl really isn’t a lot in perspective to college students across the nation
