I think the people who tried the decision portal are going to be fine. I agree with @dairyqueen that it’s not like people were actively trying to break into the site, like @seniortwinmom’s article said (a real hacker helped students access Harvard’s admissions site?!). Everyone’s naturally curious and eager to know since we’ve all worked so hard to get to this point. I do appreciate @srparent15 and @seniortwinmom’s advice to be careful about this kind of computer access, to be aware of consequences. OK, back to working on those RD apps as my backups. That’s one way to take my mind off the countdown to Monday.
Yeah the pin trick is something that has been around since 2015 Cornell Decision threads and kids who qualified were accepted, kids who were not got rejected- nothing to do with getting access to the decision portal earlier. Let’s not add more to the list of things to get anxious about while waiting for our decisions.
What is IDOC?
@CornellClassOf2023 IDOC is the Institutional Documentation Service. Financial aid applicants upload tax returns to this site. https://idoc.collegeboard.org/idoc/IDOCJump.aspx
Either way it will be over one way or the other for everyone soon enough.
Decisions for elite schools begin today with Stanford, so fasten your seat belts and hang on for the ride, it can be a bumpy few months for some of us (not to mention all the anxiety)!!!
@dairyqueen, sorry for all the back and forth you are receiving. I am the one who wrote the original post. This “hack” has been around for several years. We used it last year to simply find out the exact day and time of release. My daughter is now a freshman at ILR so it apparently did not get in the way of her admission. :). If you get deferred to the RD around you will be able to do this again in March. Good luck everyone!
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
YAWN. Guys, it means nothing. We go through this every year. You should assume that any “loophole” that a 17 y/o applicant has “discovered” has long ago been closed by the more experienced AO and/or IT guy. You only have a few days to go. Just chill. and move on from discussing this urban legend.
Hello!
My school counselor called up my mother today morning to tell her that the Cornell decisions will be released on Monday at 6 PM EST. Has anyone else received any such info? Is this the info true?
Emails r out!!
OMG! Just got the mail now!
BTW… Any Indians here?
Email received and confirmed Monday at 7pm EST for decsions!
has any intl student recieved an email from the financialaid office requesting him/her to send other financial aid stuff? Just curious cos last year all those who recieved such emails got in…
got the notification email!
“You will be able to view your admission decision online on Monday, December 10, beginning at 7 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time)”
Yessir
They could also just think that the student was confused because there are multiple portals, so they legitimately thought that when they put in their username and password for the other Cornell sites, that they just really thought they forgot their password. It’s as simple as that!
Did anyone applying to Human Ecology get the rumored phone call yet?
@sportychance That sadly, would be believable. For a top CS program, I cannot believe how non-user friendly their website is for applicants! Not to mention outdated. At least they send the email telling you when a decision is made. Many other top schools do not and you just have to keep logging into the portal to check if you’re accepted or not. Kind of like how we have to keep checking the financial aid portal to see if we “owe” them any more documents as I don’t think my child has received one single financial aid email confirming anything has been completed one way or the other. Has anyone?
Also, maybe this is posted somewhere here but I honestly can’t remember but is the decision on Monday only Accept, Deny or Defer? Is there a Waitlist possibility, or is that only after the RD pool?
Good luck to everyone. May you all have a fun and productive weekend because next week will be CRAZY!
Any international who has received the tax form email?
Why is the cornell thread comparatively way bigger than the other ivy league threads
