Hey so I’m interest in both of these great schools, and have strong SAT, GPA, and ECs, but I am an Asian male from a large public NJ high school, applying for CS Three kids got into Princeton from my school last year, and they all said that applying SCEA is worth it if you are qualified (2 got in through EA). On the other hand, I haven’t gotten to speak with any Cornell admittees, but I know they accept a few more than Princeton from my school, and my chances will be slightly higher in ED. So I am wondering which should I do early? I like both equally. Cornell would be $40k and Princeton $25k, my parents would be willing to pay either.
Both Princeton and Cornell have excellent CS programs, and since you like them both equally, I would go with Princeton. If you get in EA, you can always apply to Cornell RD, and it seems that Princeton is both closer to home and less costly than Cornell.
If you don’t have a hook of some sort, I would lean toward Cornell. Strong engineering programs and a better chance of admission.
If you truly like the both, I would go Cornell…because the chances of getting in are higher in the ED. In the RD cycle, at Cornell, you will be competing against most of the high performers who were rejected/deferred at HYPSM. BTW, if you’re keen on pursuing CS, I don’t think it makes any difference whether you graduate from Princeton or Cornell. Both will get you wherever you want to go.
Interesting. I am also considering CMU ED for School of Computer Science, but I have heard the acceptance rate for CS is abysmal.
