Hi! I am working on my essay for Cornell and am wondering if anyone on the discussion board has experience being an engineering major at Cornell? I want to include some information on their programs and culture, but I’m having trouble getting a real feel for the school just from the website.
Positives and negatives are fine; just want a feel for the school.
Thank you so much!
Hi! I’m a sophomore engineering major at Cornell. Hopefully I can provide you with some insight about the engineering department here.
I guess what I really admire about Cornell engineering courses is how dedicated the professors and TAs are in helping students learn. Whenever I needed help with a problem set or studying for an exam, the TAs would be there (some would even extend office hours to help the students, which was greatly appreciated).
Going to general things, I’d say Cornell has a lot of interesting courses to take while having the resources needed to promote intellectual growth. Going to a school with a lot of accomplished individuals really motivates academic endeavors.
I don’t really have anything negative to say that would help you in your essay; I personally have taken one or two courses which were monstrously hard, but that doesn’t translate to your situation. Plus, I don’t see hard classes as a negative.
