Cornell Engineering

Does the Engineering school hold science and math competitions/ECS at high priority?
I have 34 ACT, 800 Biology SAT, 790 Math 2 SAT, but didn't do any science competitions or build robots etc..
I really really want to go to Cornell Engineering but would it be better for me to apply to CAS to get in Cornell first?

I got in with stats a little less than yours, and I didn’t have any science competitions really. I only had one year of science fair, but I doubt that was the make or break factor for me. I would definitely recommend applying for the engineering school! From what I’ve heard, its actually very difficult to transfer into the engineering school.

Apply to engineering.

If you’re a guy, it’s harder to get into engineering (and opposite for girls), but you should not apply to a school just because it’s easier to get into for your gender. Apply to a school of your interest.

That’s fine as long as you can explain why you’re interested in engineering in your essay. Having ECs in other things can help you a lot in making you a unique applicant in the engineering school.

False. You can easily transfer within Cornell as long as you can explain why you want to transfer, if your GPA is higher than like a 3.2, and if you have taken the required courses (and you can pick the same classes in whatever school within Cornell) with the possible exception of AEM.
