Interested in info on both of these.

From what I read, the “guaranteed transfer” is an opportunity given to students who have applied to Cornell but who were refused for XYZ reason, if they maintain a 3.0+ gpa at any other institution for a year. As EOP, I’m myself interested in getting info on it…

GTs are given to students who are waitlisted from CALS, ILR, or HumEc and haven’t made it off the waitlist for the year they applied. It’s basically a “sorry, we don’t have room for you this year, but if you do a decent job at another college for your freshman year (above a certain GPA depending on the college within Cornell you applied to with no grade lower than a B/B- and certain classes taken), we’ll give you a guaranteed spot as a transfer for your soph year.” You don’t send any personal statements or anything, just a simple application around the beginning of second semester of your freshman year with college transcripts.

Here’s what the app looks like (they send this to you around December of your freshman year at college): http://admissions.cornell.edu/sites/default/files/2013FallTO.pdf

You don’t need to resubmit anything they already have on file from when you first applied (like high school transcripts).

Usually Cornell will refer to these as a “Transfer Option”, which is just the same thing as a GT.

Hope that helps.
