Cornell Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

@brilliant21 wow im excited for you!! Looks like you’ll get to use your meal plan LOOOOL

@bzheng5587 You were the only non-GT from Dyson from what Ive seen to get accepted. The other person Im pretty sure was trolling because he said he had a 3.5 and got into Dyson as a Non-GT but on another thread for a different school he said he had a 2.9. Id say close to 95% of acceptances have been GTs so I understand from your perspective it might not appear that way. @scarletred From previous threads it seems the first 3 weeks (including this upcoming Tuesday) are primarily rejections in order to slim down the applicant pool to the most qualified canidates. The acceptance rate per week for Non-Gts seems to drastically improve over the two to three weeks after this upcoming Tuesday (based on past threads).

If you don’t believe me you can check previous transfer threads.

P.S I hope this post didn’t come off as condescending is any way. congratulations @bzheng5587

@Boroboro Oh, man, really? I applied cornell engineering, too. Guess I can probably expect my rejection this tuesday, lol.

@thehoff007 Yes! So glad you pointed that out. I noticed that the other person said he/she got in but stated they had a 2.9 GPA and I was like ??? I mean I know GPA isn’t everything but it’s still a major determining factor in your application.

Have you applied to Dyson? I have and I’m so nervous! Non GT here.

@transfer9692 Yes, I applied to Dyson. I’ve been accepted into UVA and UNC but they both want a reply roughly two weeks from now so Im hoping Cornell comes soon. Also, he just dropped his GPA and didnt answer anyone elses questions.

@thehoff007 I totally get you. URichmond needs a reply by May 15th so I’m hoping to get my decision soon. Although I’m glad I didn’t get it in the first two weeks since apparently they’re mostly rejections. Great schools btw, congrats!

Does the pin trick only work the day before decision release? Or how soon does it start to work?

Does anyone accepted have any financial aid information yet? All of my materials have been in for awhile, but whenever I try to log on to the financial aid award page, I’m able to get in but the page says “inquiry access denied” for 2018-19.

Anyone know what time decisions get released?

"You are not authorized to access this component. (40,20)

You have not been granted security authorization for the component you are attempting to access. You may have access to the designated component and page, but not in the specified action mode (such as Correction or Update/Display). Contact your system administrator."

Is anyone else getting this message when they click on the financial aid to do list?

@collegeguy16 Each Tuesday at 10AM EST!

What does it mean if all my financial aid things say initiated but transfer transcript says ordered? I am a CALS applicant btw

@transfer12344567 it means that your decision will come this Tuesday, most likely

When does the pin trick start working if your decision is coming out on Tuesday?

I guess it’s 4am on Monday?

@scarletred I don’t want to make you happy, but… after this Tuesday, Most likely, you will get in… since they didn’t reject you yet. for College of Engineering.

@manshiwang Didn’t think I would be hoping NOT to hear back from Cornell so soon, but I sure am now. If/when I get rejected on Tuesday, will post. lol

@scarletred
based on previous 2 years, most Engineering applicants hear back their rejection around the beginning May. Around 90% get in if they hear back (acceptance) from the late May… Usually, trough their email. College of Engineering is weird.

Good luck.

@scarletred And also, the pin trick is a joke for College of Engineering… LOL.

@scarletred
Let me tell you the truth…
In general, Engineering application is separated into 2 parts. First is the general selection. Basically, as same as other colleges. The second is staff review (which take lots of time since they are teaching classes at the same time).

Now, you know why the longer you have, the more chance you can be admitted.
