Cornell Guaranteed Transfer

hey
any one with a cornell guaranteed transfer?

my best friend's dad teaches at cornell
so i'm in.

Uh...

What???

Cornell Guaranteed Transfer:

I believe that it is when you apply from high school to enter as a college freshman and you get wait listed/rejected but you go to another school and finish off the requirements with a good standing. Then after doing so, you re-apply to Cornell and get an automatic acceptance.

y does cornell have such a high transfer ratE?

I know what a GT is. I was just baffled by how having your best friend's dad work as a Cornell professor could guarantee you acceptance.

project x, how is that GUARANTEED? just by getting good trades in a state college...u go to CORNELL??? i highly doubt that. otherwise, people would all take intro classes and get A+'s just to transfer to cornell

and yes all my friend's dad has to do is write me a recommendation saying that he wants to do research with me....

Of course you need to keep in contact with them and make it clear that you wish to attend their school. Also, if you do some research they also implemented a scholarship for state school and community college transfers to their schools in order to aid them in paying tuition. Oh by the way, the requirements are not easy, it's not like going to devry and getting an associates in baking 101. Cornell transfer rate is high, but the requirements are a pain. (Do some more research and look around their site, that should provide you with some better info.)

now will that get you into CAS or just a school that no one wants to go to -_-

Addressing the issues in order of posting:

-A Guaranteed Transfer (GT) is given by Cornell when they want to accept a HS student applying for freshman standing but do not have room available in the class. They tell the student to enroll at a college (most students go to their state u.) and maintain a certain GPA for their first semester. If those students meet that GPA requirement, they can apply to transfer to Cornell for the upcoming Fall semester. This application is a formality as the student WILL be accepted.

-Having a friend's dad who is a prof at Cornell write a LOR for you will give you some definite brownie points, but it will certainly not guarantee you admission. If you have decent grades, test scores, recs, ECs and seem like a decent (though not great) candidate for Cornell that might push you over the brink. Don't think that you're in though. Refer to the Carpenters when they sang, "It's only just begun..."

-A Guaranteed Transfer can be for any of the schools.

dearsiryes, I must congratulate you. You are the first one I've ever seen quote the Carpenters in any forum I've been in. Ever.

heyyy... im a gt to cornell and am 100% planning on going next fall.

Anyone here a GT for ILR?

cornellgt, what college in cornell?
how long have you been at your current school for?

im a cornell gt too. went to northwestern. it's hard- the quarter system is so fast paced. i don't have time to breathe- you have to take certain classes and maintain a gpa to be a gt. if you want to really do that easily, go to a state school.

I took the College Official's Report form to an advisor at my school to fill out... and she gave me GOOD (above average) rating for everything... \is that good enough to send? or do you think i should redo it with another advisor?
im GT hum ec....
thanks

I think you should be a little more neurotic. It doesn't matter.

Yeah sexy123, they understand your advisor has not known u for a long time so something like that is possible. Same thing with me

^ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO BE LOOKING AT YOUR COLLEGE OFFICIAL REPORT??
but above average is good :)
did your advisor add an extra letter? or it was just checking off the boxes?

misquoted the Carpenters.
