Cornell IB chances

Hey everyone!! I'm applying RD to COE at Cornell. Cornell states that it has an acceptance rate of 50% for IB diploma students, and I decided to have a go. Here are my stats:

Ethnicity: Asian (Indian) male residing in Belgium

SAT math: 740 CR: 590 writing: 720
subject tests Math II: 730 Chem: 750 physics: 690

GPA: 3.59 out of 4 (unweighted) and 4.58 out of 5 (weighted)

Class rank: top 4%

Courses and predictions: (7 is highest grade achievable)
IB math Higher level - 7
IB physics Higher level - 6
IB chemistry Higher level - 7
IB english A1 Standard level - 6
IB economics Standard level - 7
IB spanish ab initio - 6
TOK/EE - 2

IB total: 41 out of 45 points

Course rigor: I'm taking the hardest subjects offered at our school. French would have been harder than Spanish, but I'm not fluent in French, so I had to opt for Spanish. Also, I'm doing the higher level course for Economics, but will be taking the Standard level examinations this May.

extra-curriculars: research project at hospital (not paid for), helped with electrical wiring at a construction site for a week, 5-6 ecology projects on Belgian farms, delivering mail, high-school choir, school softball team, cricket team for Indian school and for a local club in Belgium, yearbook, sang at gala dinner organized to raise funds for Pakistan flood relief.

co-curriculars: Represented my school in 13th ISMTF senior math competition in Berlin, 2010. Got the highest score for my school.

Awards: Mathematics award grade 11
Honor roll 1st and 2nd semester of grade 11

I have good letters of recommendation and the essay is good too, I believe.

Please chance me!

Your SATs and GPA hurt your chances. I didn’t know Cornell had a 50% acceptance rate for IB students. Where did you hear that?

Ur uw gpa n ur cr sat score at gonna be ur demise but apply nonetheless because you never know. Goodluck

I completely agree. There is no harm in trying. Just make sure your essay is really good.

thanks for your inputs guys. and @guruofgreatness, here is the link: www.syvabcplus.org/ibrates.pdf here it says 47% but it varies between 45% and 51%.

Also, do you feel that they might choose to forgive my GPA of 3.59 since I take really hard courses? I have a really good weighted GPA, so I was just wondering.
