Princeton, even though its third amoung the IVys. It has the highest endownment per student. Like $1.4 Million per student.

Does endowment include property value?

For instance, Columbia, the second largest owner of real-estate in NYC next to the catholic church, is going to have much higher property value than say Dartmouth, just because it's in the city. The inflated property value because of location, really doesn't go towards students. It's just an asset to the school.

I think I read somewhere that it does include property values. I hear that in some places as a criticism of Columbia's endowmnent.

Hey the value of living in New York City is definitely better for students than the value of living in Hanover, NH!

i think harvard is the most wealthiest because bill gates donates his money there too

Where'd you hear that Jennny?

"i think harvard is the most wealthiest because bill gates donates his money there too"

oh, that explains why harvard has been the wealthiest university in the nation for the last 200+ years. <insert sarcasm=""></insert>

hahaha (10 chars)

No, Harvard is wealthy because I donate. And yes, I HAVE been donating for the past two hundred years.

Cornell is rich, but not rich enough to offer need-blind admission for internationals :P

good one, heythatslife!

I don't think there should be need blind admissions for internationals. After all Cornell is an American university and several of its colleges are land-grant schools, funded by the state of New York. Cornell receives state and federal funding, both of which should not go into paying for the education of internationals.

hmmm...but considerin that we int'ls form the bedrock of ur RoboCup and SAE teams...reconsider that.

so? (+char)

tuition isn't a huge deal when it comes to money for ivies, but they could reduce it greatly by not trying to 'grow' their endowments so much (especially harvard, i've heard figures of 20 grand a year tuition + housing if they would just partially cut the endowment growth).
they never would though, because they would hate to fall behind one another in endowment size (or any other statistic)

can anyone say large-scale ***** envy?

and one more thing fudgemaster,
being need-blind doesn't mean u actually pay up for the srudent's need... it just means that ur decision is not dependn't on the need...actually helping the student is a different issue...and Cornell gives only 10-15 int'l scholarships to int'ls/ yr...

i sure hope they give int'l scholarships to int'ls :)
otherwise, you guys would really be f-ed

no they don't...thast the whole problem!!!
they give only 10-15 to pro'lly hundreds to who're at Cornell but need it badly

oh arjun, how i can't wait to meet you next year
:)

hmm...if its to beat me up (as many else have displayed their intention to) no thanks :C
but if its not for the above...then i'm ok :)
