When is Cornell going to follow suit with EVERY other Ivy, save Brown, in greatly improving financial aid packages?

bump..........

Cornell's endowment per student is much smaller than the other Ivy's. You are not going to see Cornell's financial aid improve any time soon unless Warren Buffett decides to give away a big chunk of his money to Cornell.

bump again

In 2012 in April

i've never met anyone as funny as you, figgy. i wish i had your quick wit--where do you get it?

I simply answered your super witty question sir

bump........

you've already gotten an answer - why are you bumping this?

Ya, I donno what ur expecting...

cornell is a cheap school. bottom line. happy?

Rumor has it that Cornell has calculated that it would cost 750 million dollars annually to match those fin aid endeavors and a plan is being drafted.

chances are though, that plan wont affect us right?

Actually, the number should be much lower. Right now, the average annual loan per student is $10,000. Say there are 15,000 undergraduate students. With only $150 million a year Cornell can make all the students debt-free.

I've already talked to the guy that wrote the editorial in the Cornell Daily Sun, and it would only cost $17 million to match the offers of the other Ivies. Cornell has begun a capital campaign for $750 million to improve financial aid, among other things.

Oh yeah, and, yes, it will affect current Cornell freshman by their junior or senior years.

thanks for the clarification, zemeckis.

So this will only benefit applicants that got accepted by multiple Ivy League schools? What about the average Joe that got accepted only by Cornell? Will there be any relief on the amount of loan which currently averages around $10K annually?

"average Joes" don't get accepted to Cornell. If you are admitted to Cornell, decide to matriculate, and are eligible for financial aid, your package will soon get better (within the next few years).
