Cornell --> MIT

Hello everybody!
So I'm currently studying mechanical engineering as a sophomore at Cornell and I am looking to transfer to MIT for the fall of Spring 2012.
Now, I'm not calling this a "chance me" because I think that MIT's transfer admissions are so difficult that there's no realistic way to chance an applicant. I'm just posting some major parts of my app. and it would be REALLY great if you guys could let me know what YOU think should be highlighted and brought out (through essays and such). I'll chance/reply to your postings as a thank you!!

High School Stats:
GPA: 3.9/4.0
Rank: 3/100
SAT: 2320
SAT II: Math: 720
Physics: 760
Misc.: National Honor Society, National Merit Commended Scholar, Distinguished French Scholar, New Mexico Academic Scholar, Senior Award in Physics, Senior Award in Calculus

College:
So this is my second transfer. I used to go to a top five LAC but I came to Cornell to pursue mechanical engineering. Unfortunately, my experience here has been unfavorable.
GPA: 3.4 (with A's in Physics, Multivariable, and my intro engineering class)
Misc: Received grant from my college due to a wind energy module that I designed and built myself during my first semester. Spent my summer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory testing photovoltaics reliability. Currently doing geothermal energy capture research at Cornell. Also, I have sat in on MIT classes and know what they are like (I love them!). I also have been speaking with a professor about joining his research team on photovoltaic research (my main passion). I want to go to MIT because I love the experience I had while I was there (again, from sitting in on class, not actually taking them, though) throughout my first year of college and because they are doing amazing research in my field of interest (renewable energy modules - specifically photovoltaic cell design) and I have models and designs and ideas that I believe will contribute to the research already in place.

Let me know what you think I should emphasize and such! And I promise to respond to your individual postings!!

Hey guys I’m finalizing my app and any objective suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!

Looks like you’ve done all you can do. Good luck!

I think your college GPA will hurt you a lot since as a junior transfer high school stats won’t be taken into consideration much. Also the multiple transferring may hurt too.

I think your research experience is great. You are a junior transfer so AOs will look more into your college experience and your academic related experience. So if I were you I would elaborate on National Renewable Energy Laboratory stuff. Also, if possible, request some recs from your lab.
Will you chance me?^^Thank you!

Seriously out of all of the threads I see on transferring to places like MIT, I’d say coming from a place like Cornell I think will really help out. 3.4 is pretty good for a mech engineering at Cornell. I think they will take that into consideration.
