Cornell or Dartmouth for pre med?

Which is better?

Dartmouth pre-med is better.

I don't know anything about Dartmouth so I'm not going to bother offering a comparison. Check out Health Careers and HCEC for Cornell Students for info on Cornell-related pre-med stuff.

Both schools are good....go to the one where you think you will be happiest. Being a pre-med anywhere can be stressful so it is best to be at a school that you are happy to be at...otherwise it will just make your life worse.

"Dartmouth pre-med is better."

Completely unsubstantiated. Both schools offer excellent resources to students. Cornell offers a broader breadth of courses and sub-disciplines. Dartmouth may offer smaller class sizes for introductory courses, but a lot of biology majors at Cornell take the introductory courses as an auto-tutorial.

The one advantage I think smaller private schools and LAC's have on Cornell is the smaller classes, which makes it easier to get better recs. In the end, however, this advantage is very small because a) you can get excellent recs from Cornell if you're proactive and b) Cornell has a premed committee. The committee letter will allow you to bypass any med schools' LOR requirements.

The OP isn't getting many replies on this topic on this forum or the Dartmouth forum. Questions of this nature usually go unanswered even on the premed forum. Those who've been through the process know that there is no concrete answer to this type of question.

I agree with your last statement norcalguy :-)
