I have a really tough decision to make. My brother goes to Georgetown, my dad is a doctor at Georgetown Hospital. On the other hand, I’ve been accepted to Cornell after being rejected by UPenn and Columbia and waitlisted by Hopkins. I haven’t visited Cornell, but my uncle went there and said its in the middle of nowhere and maybe a depressing lifestyle. I like the city area but I am very tempted to go to Cornell just based on academics. Another thing to think about is that I want to go to med school. According to what I have heard from doctors and people on admissions boards for medical school (at Georgetown), GPA is the most important thing that the med school looks at. They are both respectable schools, but I am thinking I could do better at Georgetown because my uncle says Cornell grades unbelievably hard. What do you think? Thanks in advance.
<p>I'm premed at Cornell and grading is reasonable if you work hard. The good thing about attending Cornell is that you don't have to get a great GPA to get into med school. Cornell applicants with 3.4 or above GPAs have a 86% acceptance rate into med school (Cornell does not screen its applicants).</p>
<p>I picked Cornell because of the great academic environment and I haven't heard anybody who's there really complain about it. I wouldn't move over 2000 miles if I didn't feel certain.</p>
