I doubt the Cornell brand vs. the MoHo brand, per se, will make any difference to med school admissions.
Your chances will come down mostly to GPA and MCAT scores.
There is a risk that going to Cornell would be worse for you, that is, if your GPA suffers from either (a) the transfer stress, or (b) a more competitive environment.
Stay at Mt. Holyoke. You are happy. It’s a great school with a great reputation.
It ain’t broke, so don’t fix it.
My D’s friend had the transfer option to Cornell a couple years ago but turned it down b/c she was so happy at UNC and couldn’t imagine leaving.
Why rock the boat if you’re thriving? And Mt. Holyoke is a great school!
Congrats on your success in college!
Ha – @Lindagaf - just read your post and we said almost same thing, lol!
I saw some data saying that women at women’s colleges are happier the first two years than the last two years. They seemed to get tired of the single sex environment (on average of course.) You’re one year in at MHC so you might have an idea of whether you are starting to become dissatisfied, or not.
Thank you so much to everyone who commented, all your advice was very helpful:) I’ve decided not to transfer, since I never really wanted to in the first place and it was mostly my family and friends pressuring me to go to Cornell. (I also have a scholarship at MHC and got pretty much no financial aid from Cornell…so…there’s also that). Thanks for helping me make my decision!!
The best part, @cardust, is that you have made your decision for you. Everybody at home and here on CC can offer thoughts, suggestions, information, opinions- but that’s all. You are the person who had to make the decision, weigh the pros and cons for you, make a call and live with the result. Well done for getting input from a variety of sources, processing it, and making your own decision! Enjoy the rest of your time at MHC
These decisions are always tough.
Keep making the most of MHC and you will not be sorry.
@collegemom3717 aw thank you so much
