I love Econ and I love poli sci so I was really intrigued when I heard about Oxford’s PPE (Philo-Politics-Econ) major. Only a handful of schools offer it in the US and my top choice among those that do was Claremont Mckenna. Unfortunately I got wait listed (along with several other schools). I did get in Cornell and UCLA. My question is, is it possible to build an equivalent major/double major at Cornell and has anyone done this or something similar? Cornell has a fantastic reputation in the sciences but I’m wondering whether the social science/humanities programs there will be superior enough to LA to warrant the extra cost.
If you’re in arts and sciences you could absolutely double major or major/minor in any of those subjects since all three are offered within that college (our “politics” major is just called “government”). I don’t know anything about the PPE major or about UCLA’s humanities programs, but taking courses in all those subjects at Cornell wouldn’t be difficult. Arts and sciences does give you the option to build your own major too, I believe, which you could talk to your advisor about once you got on campus.
