<p>Please tell me how the science department at Cornell is like. Some people on the Brown forum say that it's much more difficult.
Please answer these questions:
1. How is the town? Urban, suburban, or rural. Contrast with Brown's please.
2. Relationship between professors and students? Close, distant? More specifically, how accessable are the professors? School much larger?
3. Lastly: Relationship between students. Competitive? People destroy other peoples' labs? People cry a lot?</p>

<p>Of course to Brown students Cornell seems difficult. It actually has requirements and stuff.</p>
<p>1) I'd say Ithaca is rural.</p>
<p>2) I've found professors to be very accessible (even in the largest classes). But you have to take the initiative. They aren't going to hold your hand or constantly inquire about how you're doing.</p>
<p>3) Competitive but not cut-throat. Students work/study together in order to do well rather than try to sabatoge each other. As for the crying, it depends on the person. I have a friend who cries a lot about grades...and she has a 3.9. Go figure.</p>
<p>everything i've heard affirms what norcal said. I'd just like to add that ithaca being rural has in no way means theres nothing to do. Cornell's size brings all the big acts in. Providence is a city, by contrast...</p>
