Not likely. Almost not. But someone did on the Brown Apps thread and was deferred.
The logic is that if the app was deferred, then it wasnt the strongest in the early pool. LL’s are generally given to those who are good enough to get in early, but have applied regular.
THis is just a rule of thumb. Statistically, the chance is about 1-2% of the chance of getting an LL in the 1st place.
If they ask for docs that you couldve possibly sent, but havent, AND THEY REALLY NEED IT FOR DETERMINING AID (sometimes they dont, and what youve submitted is sufficient, and you may get in even with that), then they ask u
Quick update for anyone interested, I just got my acceptance letter today in the mail. I called SHA to ask if receiving an email congratulation from SHA means I got in, and the gentleman on the phone said yes. He also mentioned that the physical letters are being delivered slowly for some reason, so don’t worry too much if you haven’t received an acceptance letter just yet!

If its regarding FA documents, definitely not, especially if you already gave them everything you possibly could, but it could go either way.
Idk what other email you might be referring to.
I can say with 100% assurance and conviction that not all admitted students get this email before admissions decisions are released, and not all rejected students get this email before admissions decisions are released.
My HS counselor claimed in december to the full class that she can ‘see all our admissions decisions’ before us (before we open our portal). THis got all of us freaked out, first due to wondering how, and second due to the mere thought of it. While ik that Colleges contact counselors for additional data and that might mean something, or sometimes counselor get official mails from colleges that may mean something, but I doubt they convey the full decision beforehand to the counselor ? Isnt that a breach of policy/possibly illegal for most/all schools?
The only instance i understand this may be remotely happening is in case there is someone the HS counselor personally knows sm1 who has ties with the adcom/finaidcom.
If ‘seeing/getting admissions decisions before they are formally released’ is indeed possible, do any of you know/have heard/have had instances of something like this with any specific schools? I’d like to hear about that as well.
Im posting this here to avoid spamming it onto other forums, but this is a bit concerning personally.
