<p>My son will likely apply to Cornell this fall based on his counselor's recommendation that it might be a good match. Does going to a local session like this help in the "showing interest" category on his part? For that matter, if his grades/scores are decent, how much does a visit to Cornell help his chances for admission? He'd rather just see where he gets in, then go check schools out next Spring and we've looked at several schools so I'm not inclined to push a trip up there unless it really makes a difference for admissions. THanks.</p>
<p>I think is has no bearing. I got in without ever going to anything. Besides, they get 30,000+ applications, do you really think they keep track of who went to what?</p>
<p>agree with cjmdjm. These sessions are there to benefit YOU in making the decision of where to apply and see if you like the university. But doing ED dramatically increases chance of acceptance at Cornell, although you wont get to see who accepts you and choose.</p>
<p>I don't think it makes a difference. I don't think they even take attendance. I went to one meeting in Long Island. It was in a big school auditorium and it wasn't personal or anything, and to be honest, it wasn't too helpful since I already found all the info on the website. But definitely make a trip sometime to Cornell.</p>

<p>mom in virginia: have your son/daughter soak up all he can about cornell online/on this forum/etc...so that when he visits the campus he'll know everything and be able to navigate his way around :D</p>

<p>Make a trip to Cornell. It will be worthwhile as the beauty of the campus can not be portrayed through pictures on the internet. Ithaca,NY is beautiful and it would make a great summer trip for the entire family or just the student and special visitors.</p>
