I’m taking the course rn… Feel free to hmu with questions
I’m taking the 6 week program for high school students, not the undergrad.
My daughter is in 11th grade and she is interested in Architecture. Do you think this program will help?
@bk1366 Cornell’s architecture career exploration program will definitely help your daughter understand more about what working in architecture entails. It should also help her understand her architecture education choices: whether she wants the go straight into a BArch program or chose the BA/BS+MArch route.
The program projects should also help her assemble an admissions portfolio, though sometimes the assignments are too abstract to be applicable.
Whether it will help her gain admission to Cornell’s BArch is unknown. I wouldn’t count on it though.
@vox6666, how did you like the program at Cornell, did you end up applying for architecture school?
looks like a great program but reluctant to spend $12K to create a portfolio
I don’t know if there are still spots (check right away), but Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has a summer program that may be different, but costs less.

Both of my kids attended and confirmed that they liked the studio environment. One ended up at Cornell (graduates next month) and the other at SLO (2nd year).
we are considering the Pratt summer program, which is closer to home and more importantly fits better with our summer plans. But not sure if the curriculum is similar to the others. Seems to be more of a general overview of art/design across 4 weeks.
