Cornell transfer question

Hello,

I am interested in transferring to cornell but I have a couple questions. I am a sophomore finance major coming from a public business school (think like Boston u, William & mary type) with a 3.7~ with strong ec's, strong professor recommendations and strong essays. 3.7 would be a 3.8~ if not for 1st semester. I have taken pretty heavy course loads (6 or so full classes a semester). I had a lot of family issues that hindered my grades throughout the last 2 years of high school.

I am currently considering applying to cornell although I understand its a long shot. I would be happy with either a major in chemistry or a major in finance (eventually I think I will get a PHD or an MBA in whichever isn't my undergrad major). My understanding is that AEM is difficult to transfer into, especially as an incoming junior. would anyone be able to testify as to whether or not I would have better luck in the chemistry or finance majors for applying to transfer?

thank youa
