Big Red 2011 here. I've been contemplating leaving cold dreary Ithaca for a while now and Yale may be a school I would like to attend. Any advice from current Yalies in regards to the transfer process? I am an Applied Economics major with a 3.4 and would consider transferring into a program focusing in either economics, politics, or history.

Thnx for posting and considering Yale. The reality is that Y's transfer process is insanely competitive due to the sheer no. of applicants and the paucity of openings. As a '11, you'd be trying to come into Yale as a junior. From past trends, that's under 20 openings. And probably 500 applicants. Also, the huge proportion of them would have near to top GPAs. I wish the best for you but statistically, you've got quite the mountain ahead of you.

I know someone who transferred from Cornell to Yale. He transferred as a sophomore and had a 4.0 his freshman year at Cornell. Although I only discussed transfer GPAs with three people, all had 3.9s or above from top 25 schools.
