Cornell University, College of Human Ecology

I was recently accepted to the college of Human Ecology. Anyone have any tips on when I should apply for courses so I can get first pick?

And also, can anyone help me understand this whole process in a general way? Like I’ve been accepted, now what? How will I settle in on moving day, etc? When should I do certain things, etc,?

You don’t “apply for courses” or anything like that. At some point, they’ll release the courses for next semester (you can find them at classes.cornell.edu) and then there will be a set day when all incoming freshman log onto Student Center and try to enroll in the courses they want. It’s kind of stressful, but it always works out. Have some extra courses in mind; it’s always better to overenroll than underenroll. Also, this will all make much more sense later on! Until Cornell tells you more about it you don’t really have to worry.

Once you officially enroll and send in your deposit, you’ll get a NetID and a housing application. You’ll also get a checklist for everything you need to do before you come to Ithaca. Later in June (I think; can’t remember) you’ll find out your housing assignment. You’ll need to get certain vaccines (also can’t remember which ones). You’ll sign up for a swim test. Then once you move in, there are a few days of orientation where you do various activities and meet with a peer advisor, academic advisor, and advising dean (basically way too many advisors) and you can ask them a bunch of questions.

Basically, don’t stress! Just follow the timeline/checklist once you get it and you’ll be fine.

Oh alright, this makes sense haha. Thank you again
