Hi,
I am a junior at Stuyveant High School. My gpa is currently a 91, but I have taken 2 AP’s sophomore year (AP STAT, and AP WORLD), and am taking 3 right now (AP ENGLISH, AP CALC AB, AP CS). I got 2240 on the SAT, 800 on SAT 2 Math, and 760 on SAT 2 Chem. I will be taking the SAT 2 for Physics this year.
My extracurriculars (will continue in senior year) include:
Vice pres of 1 club (co founder) [4 years]
Head of chess club at local library [4 years]
Robotics Team [4 years]
Math team [4 years]
Big Sib [2 years]
National Honor Society (ARISTA) [2 years]
Cricket Team [3 years]
My GPA isn’t the greatest, but I have taken some of the most advance courses in my grade level. With these stats, do I have any chance for Cornell Engineering? Also, are there any other top engineering schools that will accept these stats?
You have a really good chance.
Stony Brook
Binghamton
RPI
For colleges like Stony, is it possible to get a full ride if my family income is less than $100 K?
No SUNYs give lousy aid. Coming from Stuyvesant your GPA takes on different meaning. You listed ECs but not actual achievements within the ECs-like team awards, etc. But if you have some strong achievements, I’d add MIT, Cal Tech, CMU, Michigan, Cornell, Penn, MIT, Cal Tech, CMU,Georgia Tech. I’d think SUNY would be a safety at best.
