I have eight family members that attended the school, including both of my parents. I also believe that two of my grandparents were former professors at the university. I have a 94 point something average and I am currently at a 31 for my ACT but I am taking it one or two more times so hopefully that will improve. I took AP World History as a sophomore and got a 5 on the exam, and I also took the SAT II for world history and got a 750. I am in two honor societies at my school for world language and music and I am currently applying for membership in the National Honor Society. As for ECs, I am heavily involved in varsity sports (I play 3) and I am the captain of my school's varsity volleyball team. I also received the coaches award for my track team because of my character and leadership and I am the only race walker on the team (track does not have captains). I have a lot of other ECs (such as tutoring underclassmen at my school, participating in my school's Spanish Club, volunteering at my parish's Vacation Bible School over the summer, etc.) but there are too many to list in a small forum post.

I also recently won an international photography contest and my photo is hanging in the British National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London. There are 20 images in the contest's exhibit and I am the only photographer under 18 featured in the exhibit. I am hoping to pursue photography in the future and I'd like to continue taking pictures during my college endeavors. I am probably going to write my essay about this contest and the entire experience of being proactive before junior year, taking initiative to enter an international contest, having confidence, and then seeing my photo in a famous museum.

Please let me know what you think- I've heard that legacy can help a lot (especially double legacy), but I want to apply early decision to a school next fall that I have realistic chances of getting into. I don't want to waste my early decision on a school that is too much of a reach.
