Cornell/USC/UVA/UNC Will Chance Back

Hello, College Confidential Community!!
I was wondering if y’all could chance me for Cornell, UVA, UNC, USC(cali).

About me:
Asian from Texas
GPA: 4.0(unweighted) 5.2213(weighted)
SAT: 650CR 730M 650W=2030
Class Rank: 1/1002
Extracurricular: Varsity Basketball, National Honor Society, Interact Club, Band, Academic Decathlon, Student Congress, President of Church Youth Group, Work Part Time
Honors:AP Scholar
First Gen: Yes
Low-Income: Yes
I have taken the hardest classes possible at my school.

I noticed the only thing I can really improve before deadlines is my SAT score (which is in a month). What would I need to score to be considered a match to those schools? Also, if anyone else knows of high-tier colleges that love to give out financial aid that would be appreciated. I chance back

Thank you, and don’t be shy to criticize

Being a first generation college student and having a perfect unweighted GPA with the hardest schedule is definitely a positive for you. Your rank is also extremely impressive. I think if you can raise that SAT to a 2200+ then you’d be fine for these all these schools, excluding perhaps Cornell bc that’s such a reach. Good luck!

^ no way
Unless your school is absolutely horrendous, and has a reputation for being so, you’re way better off than he is saying. I have more than one friend that’s gotten into Cornell with lower numbers, so don’t worry.

Anyway, you are going to want a 2100, 2150ish for Cornell. That GPA is crazy and your extracurriculars are solid as well.

@erpmk23, his school may be well what you were describing as it is hard to believe that someone who is ranked first in a thousand could have such a mediocre score!
In any case, OP needs to raise up his score significantly (200?), and for some even more!

I think you have a good chance with your GPA and class rank to get into Cornell. Just raise that score up a 100 and you will increase your chances significantly.

1/1002 - wow!!
You have a great shot at every school on your list, perhaps withholding Cornell. A 2050 is a little low - if you can get it around 2200+, you have a good shot.
Also, out of state public schools may be too expensive for you - I’d check on those before applying. UCs can be 50K/yr or more for everyone.

you are an amazing student. WOW! definitely a great candidate for all; Cornell being a reach but in no way is it unrealistic. Your rank is incredible as well as your GPA. best of luck to you!

USC is very competitive for Asian students, for that reason, it’s going to be tad of a reach.

Its not that my school is bad the top 5 at my school all have over 2200 but the only SAT I took was at the end of freshman year. Hopefully I can really spike it up

Also I chose these schools because they report to offer 100% financial aid which is good for me

@kimsanityyyy thanks for chancing me, and I think you have a great chance for all of these schools with your very stellar stats. Congrats and good luck!

UVA and UNC are good. Don’t know much about USC so can’t tell you there. Cornell is not as much of a reach for you as others. With all your extracurriculars plus working part time you will be good. Your essay needs to be outstanding. For SAT scores just get over 2000 and you will be fine. Cornell is a lower ivy like darthmouth and brown. I say get some safeties like Baylor and Texas A&M who will probably throw money at you.

I think you have UNC and UVA in the bag. Your great ECs and stuff makes Cornell a bit less of a reach for you. Just try to get that SAT score up. Your hooks are good as well.

Chance back!
