Cornell v/s UCLA

Hi .. I have spent the whole month debating but unable to decide so any help wud be welcome . I have offers from UCLA and Cornell for Engg . While I intend to do Chemical Engg for the time being it is very likely I would chnage and may do something totally different. Any suggestions which one should I pick . You may know the following considerations :

Cornell ..Ivy league , higher ranking , more selective and smaller uni , smaller class size , financially rich , extreme weather , middle of nowhere , difficult travel , ethenically not very diverse.

UCLA ... well reputed , highly ranked consisitently, great weather , diverse student body , well connceted city , very large in size , scramble for classes and courses , dire financial state , huge faculty turnover recently

Cornell! This is a no brainer! The UC’s budget cuts means that is is difficult for many people to graduate in 4 years. Getting into classes is such a hassle unless you have priority registration through the regents scholarship!

And I would think Cornell is more diverse because it actually considers race in admissions hence the class is built to reflect a balanced and diverse microcosm of society. The UCs are forbidden by law to do this and as such are highly skewed in favor of asian-americans!

I would also think that you will have more resources available to you at Cornell.

Hi ,

Wonder how many undergrad freshmen are going to Cornell from India this year . Would be great for us to find out an d may be do a predeparture meet and greet .

^ I’m going to Cornell. CAS.
