I was admitted to both Cornell and Carnegie Mellon in their materials science and engineering programs. Now comes the tough decision.

I've heard that Cornell lacks any sort of socialization outside of the greek system, which I'm not at all interested in, but I was interested in their theme houses (Risely, JAM). I want to continue participating in theater and music in college, and I've heard great things about CMU theater and music.

Any advice on which one is better for mat sci? Which one has better campus life? Any information at all about these two schools--experiences, opinion, horror stories, etc.-- would be great.
