where should i go??

I can almost guarantee that if someone else would have replied, they would have asked:

What major? Visit both!

dude...mention your major???
Dartmouth's good for seed sowing and Cornell's good for dairy farming. Does that help?

You want big or small?
And Arjun, your comment does not help at all.

Short answer...Cornell

aiyayaya im so confused...i want and econ-ish major + bio is a possiblity...i like small BUT not rural...i can't visit anywhere since im in Hong Kong now and my IB exams are in 3 weeks...anyone can help me out here?

Uh ya that kinda eliminates both...

yeah he's right, both Cornell (Ithaca) and Dartmouth (Hanover) are in very small, middle-of-nowhere towns.

Cornell has about 13,500 undergrads, while Dartmouth has around 4,000...plus Ithaca is a bigger place than Hanover...so I guess you could make a case for Cornell...

Do you have an urban option? Both Cornell and Dartmouth may make you miserable then.

This is the exact same decision I had to go through last year. Cornell Vs. Dartmouth. Well, academically, they are both on par with each other; so, this isn't why I chose one over the other. I chose Cornell over Dartmouth because I tend to strive in an atmosphere with many people. Cornell's undergrad student body is bigger than Dartmouth's, and that was attractive to me. Also, location was important to me. I found being in Ithaca more attractive than Hanover, though both are small towns.

yeah, i'm torn between the same two schools. if i'm going pre-med what would you guys suggest? both towns are pretty lame and both schools are equally amazing...this will be a tough decision. any input?

if your pre-med..then Cornell is place for you - definitely better in the sciences

yeah but won't it be more difficult to maintain a high gpa at cornell? i mean it's basically understood that grade inflation is nonexistant :( so to get into med school my gpa is what counts (plus MCATs and such) but yeah...any feedback?

i personally love cornell, but I've not been to dartmouth. it's like a little town in itself - certainly not urban, but busy and lively, and not rural, but with plenty of natural elements. i think it strikes a nice balance between the two; others might disagree.

I don't think grade inflation/deflation is that important for pre-meds choosing schools. The adcoms for med schools have probably been in the business long enough to realise which schools have inflation and which don't.

My understanding of the numbers is that grade inflation etc. is not a concern for you in your choice, both schools are similair to the point of it not being a factor.
