May 1st is so close it's scary and I am still very back and forth between Cornell and UMich. My main concern is money. Michigan offered a very generous merit scholarship which would allow me to graduate with no debt at all, but both of my parents work and Cornell offered us no need based aid but in order to pay tuition I would have to graduate with a fairly large amount of debt (50k minimum). Cornell also has co-op opportunities which would allow me to make some money to help pay tuition. I visited both schools and could envision myself at either. I am planning on majoring in mechanical. So, what my question boils down to is this, is it worth making the sacrifice to pay for Cornell over Michigan? Would the benefits of having an Ivy League diploma really put me in a better position after graduation that would justify that much debt? any opinions would be much appreciated as I need to make my decision ASAP. Thanks

NO. Michigan is every bit as good as Cornell in engineering, if not slightly better. Do not go into debt for 50K for a comparable degree. What sacrifice? You’re going to love Ann Arbor!

I think Michigan is the better school, anyway.
