Cornell vs Northwestern vs Duke

I am interested in science/engineering as well as business... What are the pros and cons of each school in terms of

academic strengths
social life
location
friendliness of students
overall atmosphere

well i’ve been at cornell for a month, so i can probably tell you more than the high schoolers who are gonna comment on cornell lol =)

cornell is pretty safe. i walk around at night, like 2 am, and i don’t feel too scared. usually. there’s the blue light system, which i think can call the cops. people are friendly. everyone holds the door for everyone, at least. can be awkward running to the person holding the door for you. cars generally will let the pedestrians cross. i’ve made some friends. people here are nice enough. really. i really like the location… i walk past gorges every time i go to class… but there are fences now, which kind of sucks. very hilly and scenic. some places at cornell truly do look harry potter-ish. there’s a vibrant night life here (that i’m not a part of). parties at college town every day i think. but you can’t enter if ur frosh cause they serve alcohol always and too many alcohol related deaths so cornell’s cutting down. academically, cornell has been fine so far. i’ve already learned like 1/2 the stuff i’m taking in high school. everything’s going fine. literally every teacher/TA has been at least fine, and most have been great. great personalities and nice graders (lol, that’s what’s most important). i really do get the work hard, play hard vibe from cornell.

anyway, i’m so glad i came here. i really really am. i’m glad u chicago waitlisted me. it made verything so much easier for me. but apparently now it’s ranked 5th in the nation…wow. well deserved i think

hope this helps

oh yeah hw amount is very reasonable. i got more in high school. just too much reading to do… but i’m a slow reader, so it’s my own fault
