Cornell is obviously more "prestigious" due to it's being in the ivy league, but I've heard very good things about the Economics department at NYU. Any opinions?

Cornell as a university is generally considered significantly better than NYU. But in Econ and Math, they are roughly equal. I would personally pick Cornell over NYU anyday, but if you love NYC, do not care for a campus life and hate rural settings, NYU may be a better choice for you.

NYU is excellent in Economics and Applied Math, ranked 2nd by US News for the latter. This would suggest that it would be an outstanding choice for a combined Economics and Math program.

However, Cornell is, as you said, the more prestigious of the two and probably the better school overall, due to the strength of its engineering and natural sciences departments. If you are not interested in these areas then I would recommend deciding on personal preferences such as location and weather (Ithaca is freezing!)

hold up, how didn't u decide yet, the dude date was Monday man, like it had to be sent out or you are not guranteed a spot!

yeah but i was on waiting list for cornell ^_^
