Cornell vs. UIUC vs. Johns Hopkins vs. Michigan vs. UC Berkeley

I have been admitted to each of the universities in the title for Chemical Engineering. I know the general pros and cons of each place, but I was wondering about pros and cons from current/former students. None of them have given much money, and I have visited all of the campuses.

Thank you in advance

Which one is your cheapest out-of-pocket option?
Which campus environment did you prefer?
If your career plans are to work as an engineer after college, where do you see yourself settling down and working?

Illinois would be the cheapest, but I liked Cornell’s campus the best.

If I get a job after 4 years, I would probably center either near San Francisco or in the northeast.

You might find some students in the active forum for the individual college. Cornell at least has parents of current students. I wouldn’t underestimate the luxury of the smaller student body and easier access to profs at privates. But all of them are fantastic, you are in great shape, congrats. I think Cornell is an excellent choice… A student I know that visited last year and sat in on classes large and small enjoyed the large one the most.

BrownParent, Cornell is not that small. It enrolls close to 15,000 undergraduate students. Its college of Engineering alone enrolls 3,000 undergraduate students. Classes at Cornell will not be noticeably smaller than classes at Michigan or Cal.

That being said, Cornell is truly excellent, and if the OP liked its campus best, then he should go for it.
