So I am trying to narrow down my reaches on my list to only have two of these schools: Cornell, USC, or UVA (OOS).
GPA: 3.8 (UW) 4.46 (W out of 5.6)
SAT Superscore: 1300 (650 math, 650 reading); 6 on writing
APs: bio, statistics, calc AB
Prospective major: biology or genetics
ECs: GSA, envirothon, VAASA, NHS (secretary)
Curriculum:
Taking 3 APs (out of 7 offered) and all honors classes except for one
Again, these are all obviously reach schools. I like all of them and want to choose the schools mainly best fit for my major and all that. I like Cornell, but it might be too cold for me. I also like USC, but it might be too far. These factors aren’t deal breakers, but I am considering them. Thanks guys
I’m betting on my essay, interview, and letters of rec, mostly. I know I have a solid essay. I’m a first generation college student from a small town in RI. I know all of these schools are reaches and I don’t exactly think I’ll get into any of them, but on the off chance that I do I want to have chosen the right schools.
@VANDEMORY1342 even though they are all realistic, some schools are more holistic than others.
@kwtgtc Cornell should be one for sure. It is obviously hard to get into Cornell. But Cornell’s schools like ILR, Human ecology, CALS, and Hotel school tend to be more holistic. If you can show why you are interested in one area and why you’d be a good fit, they weigh your interest and extracurriculars a lot more.
Which do you like better between UVA and USC? It will be hard to get into UVA with those stats as an oss applicant.
